The way we look at the landscape, the way it is recorded and represented, determines how we understand and internalise it. It defines what we expect to see.
I paint places where I have a connection either personal or through ideas and thoughts that interest me. This includes Whitby and Liverpool with their maritime history, to Margate and the connection to JMW Turner, to the familiar local landscape of the Dark Peak of the Peak District and Southern Pennines.
