Drawing and painting is a physical process. Making marks on a surface is a mixture of the instinctive, the deliberate and the accidental. Sharp and soft lines are integral to the work I attempt and charcoal and indian ink provide an immediacy that demands commitment.
A written word or phrase is an extension of marking the paper and often included in both drawings and paintings, whether legible or not.
